About Kimberly Empeno

Kimberly Empeno, MSN, RN, NP, PMHNP-BC is a native to San Diego. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from San Diego State University and Master of Science Nursing degree from California State University San Marcos. She is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Kimberly has worked extensively as a behavioral health nurse at Paradise Valley Hospital, Bayview Campus since 2014. Prior to working in behavioral health, she worked as a telemetry nurse but became passionate once she started working in the mental health field. Kimberly decided to spend her time, commitment and gain expertise in therapeutic wellness after helping patients on the unit who suffer from various mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and addiction disorders. Her internship in the VA included helping Veterans in the alcohol, drug, treatment program as dual diagnosis. She is devoted to spending her time as a mental health practitioner to help those that lack support in mental health, vulnerable populations, and in underserved areas in San Diego.

Additionally, Kimberly is also an avid musician and former music teacher in violin and piano having earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from UCLA and Master of Arts degree in Music from UCSD. Kimberly enjoys treating each person holistically and using music therapy to create better ways of coping.
